How to Make Shaving Soap

Follow this tutorial to learn how to make super foamy shaving soap using the Stephenson Triple Butter M&P Soap Base!

Materials Needed

Stephenson Triple Butter M&P Soap Base
Soap Safe Fragrance Oil
Kaolin Clay
Vegetable Glycerine
Rubbing Alcohol
Knife or Soap Cutter
Cutting Board
Heat Resistant Container
Soap Bar Mold
A Spoon/Something to Stir With

For the Moustaches (optional)

Stephenson Standard Transparent M&P Soap Base
Powdered Cosmetic Grade Charcoal
Moustache Cookie Cutter

Step 1

Chop the transparent soap base into small cubes and melt in a microwave on high for 2 minutes until fully melted. We used about 18oz, but you may need to adjust depending on the size of your mold.

Step 2

Mix 3 tablespoons of the charcoal powder with 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol and mix thoroughly.

Step 3

Add the charcoal mixture to the melted transparent soap base and mix thoroughly.

Step 4

Spray the bottom of the silicone mold with rubbing alcohol and pour a thin layer (about 1/4" deep). Then, spray again with the alcohol and leave to set for about half an hour.

Step 5

While that soap sets, chop up approximately 35oz of the Triple Butter M&P Soap Base and place it in a microwave safe container. Melt in a microwave on high for 2 minutes in 30 second increments until completely melted.

Step 6

While the soap melts, mix 2 tablespoons of kaolin clay with 1 tablespoon of glycerin.

Step 7

While the black soap is still a little soft, gently remove it from the mold. Then, use the cookie cutters to cut out the moustache shapes then set them aside.

Step 8

While the Triple Butter base is melted, mix in the kaolin clay and 1oz of your desired soap safe fragrance oil.

Step 9

Spray the soap bar mold with rubbing alcohol. Then, fill the mold about 3/4 full with the Triple Butter base and spray with rubbing alcohol. Let the soap set for an hour.

Step 10

Once the soap is set, spray the top with rubbing alcohol and place the moustache embeds on top. Pour a thin layer of the Triple Butter base around the embeds, being careful not to cover it. Spray again and let the soap set.

That's it! Now you have your own shaving soaps.
